Delawares were developed as the original "meat breed" from crosses of Barred Plymouth Rock and New Hampshire in the 1940's. Our strain is very large and has excellent type and coloration. They lay a large brown egg and grow relatively fast. Can be used for slow growing broilers as well as layers and will be very competitive in the exhibition hall. We have crossed our Delawares with Naked Neck to produce a hybrid slow growth broiler that finishes well and has excellent flavor.
